I’ve been asked a lot lately about the necklace, so I took some photos of it and decided to write a post about it to give you some more info about where the soil sample came from, etc..
For those reading about me for the first time, my great-uncle was pioneer UFOlogist Henry McKay (there is a Wiki Answers page about him here with more info on him). He was an electrical engineer in the Air Force, was the very first Director of MUFON in Canada, and was one of the first UFO investigators in the world to specialize in physical trace evidence of UFOs. He only took UFO cases that were reportedly tree-top level or lower, he never dealt with “lights in the sky” type cases. Whenever a UFO reportedly landed, he was the one they called.
After Uncle passed away on April 15, 2007, just after having his 80th birthday on March 23, all of his hundreds of case files were passed down to me. While going through his files I found a yellow manila envelope with soil left in it from one of his investigations. He often took soil samples from his UFO landing site investigations to have analyzed at a lab. There’s a whole other story about what happened to me upon discovering this soil, which I will leave for another time. More photos of the necklace are down below near the bottom of this post.
Last month I put some of the soil into an empty perfume vial pendant that I found on Ebay, and made a necklace out of it. For those concerned about perfume tainting the soil, not to worry, the vial was brand new and never used. So no amount of perfume was ever placed in this vial.
I’m sure some will want to know which investigation this soil came from. For starters I should clarify that this doesn’t look exactly like soil, it looks more like crop to me. So when I call this a “soil sample”, what I mean to say is that Uncle gathered this from the exact spot in the ground where the reported UFO had landed. So perhaps I should be calling this a “ground sample” instead. I am no expert at this, and am learning from Uncle’s files as I go along. So if any UFOlogists reading this can shed any light on this necklace I sure would appreciate it. But until I can verify if this is indeed crop than I will continue to call it a “soil sample” for now.
Also, I am not 100 percent certain as to which exact investigation site this sample came from. However, so far from what I can ascertain, it looks like it could have come from one of his cases which I refer to as his “white powdery substance” investigation. I won’t say too much about that case just yet. But, what I will say is that the investigation was in Ontario, Canada. The government was involved, and a white “powdery substance” was also discovered at the site. Two or three “little green men hopping over the fence” were also reported to have been seen at the site. Actually, Uncle told me that the government-run lab that analyzed the “soil samples” for him for that investigation told him that the last time they saw that type of white powdery substance (which was a type of powdered acid) was in the Egyptian pyramids. What that means exactly I really don’t know. I just remember being in awe as he spoke. His UFO investigation stories were WAY better than any of my ghost investigation stories.
The government also told him that he would have to bring them to the site so that they could inspect the site themselves, which he did. I don’t think he really had a choice. But that’s all I will say about this case, for now..
For those wondering why I would wear “soil” from a UFO landing investigation around my neck, here is my reasoning. Even though he was my “great” Uncle, my grandfather’s brother to be exact, you need to understand that he was always the father I never had and we were very close. Beyond the UFOlogist, he was a great man, not many like him. And when he passed away I had a very difficult time getting through it. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of him. Hence the reason for this necklace — to honour him and his life’s work, and for sentimental value. I have several different types of chains that I wear it with, depending on what I’m wearing. So I was excited to finally find a vial that I could easily put onto different types of chains. I really love this vial, it has some hearts on it too.
Here’s a few more photos of it up close. The white plastic part at the top inside will be removed before I go ahead and glue the top on permanently. And that stuff inside the vial is some of the “soil sample” Uncle collected from a reported UFO landing site:
Below is the yellow manila envelope that I found the sample in:
The soil sample was analyzed than mailed back to Uncle in May of 1971. Here is a close up of the top-left corner (the sender’s label, where the sample was analyzed):
Again, if anybody can shed any light about this soil sample please contact me…
On another note, for those asking why Uncle’s UFO website isn’t up yet, we are still working on it (UFOsUpClose.com). It is almost completed. I know you are all anxious for it, and I thank you all for your patience. Hopefully it will be up sometime in February, we’ve been working on it for quite a while now.
Also, in case you haven’t seen them yet, I put up three videos from Uncle’s files here.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you all for taking the time to read this, hope you had an awesome Christmas and New Years:)
